Our Classes

Creative Movement

A class for the youngest students. A perfect introduction to movement! Excellent for students to help progress their motor skills, balance, and flexibility. Students learn the basic ballet terms, and musicality, while having fun! This class has a focus on learning how to tell stories through the movement of dance. Creative Movement classes are offered for ages 3-4.

Ballet

A technical foundation to all dance styles, ballet is recommended for all dancers. Dancers will be trained under the CDTA curriculum with influences from the RAD, Cecchetti, and Vaganova styles of ballet. This structured, yet fun environment promotes a dancer's elegance, strength, turn out and flexibility. Ballet classes are offered for ages 5 and up.

*Ballet is a core dance option for those enrolled in Acro Junior 1 or higher*

Acro

This is not gymnastics! A style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precise acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character and its unique choreography, which blends dance and acrobatics. The discipline requires courage and stamina, while demanding flexibility and skill. Exercises are accompanied by music, harmoniously keeping with dancers’ choreography.

*Due to the demanding nature of this style, and the understanding of dance technique required, dancers must be enrolled in at least one core class (ballet or jazz) if they want to enroll in Acro Junior 1 or higher. Ages 8 and up.

Tap

This is a fun, engaging, and popular class for dancers; boys or girls!! Tap is a unique style that allows you to create music with your feet. Tap dancing is an energetic dance style where students learn rhythm, style and technique through percussive footwork. Tap develops strong coordination and a sense of timing and musicality. Students will be taught according to the ADAPT syllabus.

Ages 5 and up.

Jazz

Jazz dance incorporates stylized dance moves and dynamic steps such as jumps, turns, and kicks. Jazz is a very high-energy class that teaches students essential dance skills including body coordination, flexibility and self-expression. As students emerge as dancers, ballet technique becomes an important supplement to Jazz training. Students taking jazz will be trained under the ADAPT syllabus.

*Jazz is a core dance option for those enrolled in Acro Junior 1 or higher*

Ages 8 and up

Musical Theatre

Welcome to Broadway!! This class incorporates basic dance techniques, with the excitement of singing, acting and dancing. Musical Theatre will enhance the stage presence of the dancers and contribute greatly to a well-rounded, multi-disciplined performer.

Pre-Pointe

Pre-pointe classes are reserved for serious ballet students wishing to go on pointe as they progress through their training. This is a class for students serious about ballet that want to build the strength, maturity, and dedication required for pointe work. Students will not be cleared for pointe work until deemed strong and mature enough by the instructor. Dancers must be 12 or older to go on pointe and are required to take at minimum 1-2 full years of pre-pointe classes and several full years of regular ballet training before achieving the necessary strength, maturity, and alignment required for pointe work. If you are interested in pursuing pointe work, please contact the instructor for more information.

Adult

For those who have been a dancer at heart! At LCCD we are firm believers that dance is for everybody regardless of ability or years dancing. Classes will follow a modified syllabus to help adult students progress through learning technique. Modifications will also be available depending on previous injuries to help build confidence and strength. Our adult classes are lots of fun and beginner friendly! We currently offer ballet, ballet technique, pre-pointe, and tap classes for adults. With acro classes in the following year. Ages 16 and up.
